 Best All Time RB
« Thread Started on Apr 11, 2007, 10:47am »

Just past players only. No present. I thought this could be an interesting subject with Palmyra having some great RB's in the past.

I will have to post mine, but I will admit I am bias. I would give a vote for Andrew Kestner. I loved watching him run the ball. He had speed and power. If he got 2 steps on someone he was gone. I didn't see anyone in the area catch him in the open field. He also had good hands coming out of the backfield to catch passes. Like I said I am bias when talking about him, but I also think he was pretty dang good at the same time.
I didn't get to see a lot of the older running backs, but I can say that Brian Sutter and Corey Pontius were both really fun to watch.

Mr. Cissna i agree that Andrew was a very good running back, and did it with not much blocking on the sweep because i was to slow to get out and block for him but anyhow. I think the best RB of all time would of had to been Grant Thornburg. This guy was a blast to watch play, not the fastest on the field but he made it happen when he touched the ball. He also won Hearld Whig Player of the Year.

5wide very good point and to be honest that was an oversite on my part. Grant was an unreal RB between the tackles. He almost always got 5 yards per carry. I also really like watching him at LB. Great pick.

I'm dating myself, but the Whiston twins (Tony & Tom) were pretty dominant back in the day...

I may be a little partial, but I think that Mahr kid wasn't that bad. Just kidding. Actually, the Wiston twins were good but since I haven't had a chance to see any of the games since "1979" that is all that I can base my choice on. CW
